There are a range of opportunities available to trainees who wish to take part in teaching, particularly in support of undergraduate programmes.
Medical Student Teaching
NHS Forth Valley hosts students from the Universities of Dundee, Edinburgh & Glasgow across a range of specialties. There is a formal undergraduate tutorial programme coordinated by the clinical teaching fellows and Margot Robinson (UG education coordinator), these are generally:
- Foundation doctor lead tutorials (Monday 3pm)
- Surgical teaching (Tues/Thurs AM)
- Clinical Fellow lead medical teaching (Tues/Wed AM)
- Ageing & Health teaching (Tues PM)
In addition to the above, there are opportunities to get involved with simulation training for medical students including teaching clinical skills, procedural skills and scenario work.

Post-Graduate Teaching
A range of opportunities are available to more senior trainees and clinical fellows (>FY2) who would like to get involved with post-graduate teaching. In particular, the twice weekly FY1/2 lecture series is always in need of fresh ideas and any offer of help will be greatly received.
