Psychological Skills for Wellness I – Gen. Med. & Surgery Students

Thursday 4th April at 9:30 am - 11:15 am

Do you want to become the most compassionate doctor you can be? Do you want to learn how support your mental health through your training in medicine? Then this session is for you.

But how?

We will draw on the psychological theory and evidence-based techniques offered by Compassionate Mind Training to answer this ‘how’ question.

The format is a face-to-face group, which includes interactive and experiential methods.

Who?

The session is delivered by the Psychologist based in Medical Education. There will be approx. 8 participants per session to facilitate safeness in the group.

When & where?

Students will be contacted by email with a date (Monday or Thursday), time (AM/PM), and location (Learning Centre 3rd floor). Lasts 1hr. 45min.

Why?

Feedback from an FY1: “Psychological robustness is key skill to have in order to fulfil my potential as [a doctor] and for my future career. I feel I can really take these techniques forward today into the future to enhance my wellbeing and effectively manage stress”.
