Unit Details
We’re a large district general hospital with 15 theatres running regularly. We have regular general, obstetric, trauma, orthopaedic, gynaecology, ENT, Max-Fax and dental lists. There is also a chronic pain service that runs out of the nearby Falkirk Community Hospital and an acute pain service at the main site.
On Call Pattern
- Normal days (8am – 5pm): Allocated to a theatre list.
- Long days (8:30am – 9pm): 2 trainees, 1 obstetric trained.
- Nights (8:30pm – 9am): 1 trainee, 1 resident consultant to cover emergency theatre, obstetrics and ICU. 2 non-resident consultants (ICU/general theatres) are available as needed.
Leave
Nearly all annual leave/study leave requests can be accommodated. Speak to Julie Carter as soon as possible.
Education
Weekly trainee teaching 2-4pm on Thursday afternoons.
