Foundation doctor teaching takes place on Wednesdays & Thursdays in the education centre between 1230-1330. These teaching sessions are bleep free, protected time (with the exception of cardiac arrest pages). The post-graduate office will hold all bleeps whilst you are at teaching.
Generally FY2 teaching is on a Wednesday and FY1 on Thursday, however all FY trainees are welcome to both sessions; indeed you are encouraged to do so to help you achieve your required number of teaching hours each academic year.
A range of topics will be covered including:
- Palliative medicine
- Clinical medicine and surgery
- Ethics (in conjunction with BMA)
- Legal requirements (in conjunction with medical defence companies)
- Radiology
- Acute scenarios
The teaching timetable is reasonably flexible so please email fv.postgraduatemedicaleducation@nhs.scot if there are specific topics you would like covered.
A draft timetable will be posted in due course, with weekly reminders emailed to trainees.
