FPDs will be happy to support foundation doctors who have any questions or issues, though Jacqueline McMenemy (email@example.com) in the post-graduate office is usually a good first port of call and is a font of knowledge. Jacqueline coordinates post-graduate education including FY teaching sessions and ARCP.
As pre-registered doctors, FY1s are required to have senior supervision at all times; this means you should never feel in a position that you cannot access senior input if required, no matter the time of day.
Each FY doctor will be allocated an education and clinical supervisor for the duration of each 4 month attachment. In most cases this will be one person who oversees both roles, though you will also work closely with other consultants and are encouraged to seek help from ward consultants if you feel more comfortable doing so. Educational supervisors are a fantastic resource and will be more than happy to help with regard to educational, clinical or pastoral support.
Jacqueline McMenemy will provide a list of educational supervisors within the first few weeks of your attachment; you should endeavour to arrange a meeting with your supervisor early in the rotation to allow for induction and portfolio completion.
We hope you have a fantastic time with us here at FVRH and look forward to welcoming you to the wider team!
